If you’re a gravel cycling enthusiast, it’s time to start planning your next big adventure. From April 1st to December 1st, the Gran Monferrato Gravel Brevetti returns for its third edition — a one-of-a-kind initiative that challenges riders to tackle 13 cycle-tourism routes across the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo.

After previous editions that paid tribute to the great cyclists of the region, this year’s routes share a common thread: a celebration of Gran Monferrato’s identity and its deep-rooted winemaking heritage.

The 13 routes wind through the production areas of some of Monferrato’s most beloved wines — from Barbera and Nebbiolo to Moscato — while also passing through lesser-known but equally fascinating territories where varieties like Timorasso and Barbesino are born.

The Challenge: 9 Months, 13 Routes, 700+ km Through UNESCO Landscapes

The routes range in distance and elevation from 35 to 71 km, making them suitable for a single day’s ride or a more relaxed two-day outing — whatever pace suits you best. Either way, you’ll be fully immersed in the rolling hills recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Along the way, you’ll come across QR codes packed with useful information to help you complete each route. Scan at least 7 QR codes across 7 different routes by December 1st, and you’ll receive an exclusive t-shirt and an official Finisher certificate — a tangible recognition of your achievement across the UNESCO hills, celebrating your passion for sport cycling tourism and your endurance on our gravel trails.

A Land of Endless Surprises

The Gran Monferrato Gravel is more than a cycling challenge — it’s an invitation to discover a region that still flies under the radar, yet never fails to leave a lasting impression.

The routes take you through a rich variety of scenery: from gently rolling hillsides to steeper, more demanding climbs, always through a rural world of vineyards, cultivated fields, and small historic villages waiting to be explored — complete with ancient Romanesque churches and medieval castles that hold centuries of history.

And the landscape shifts with every season. Spring blossoms give way to the lush greens of summer, before the warm amber and gold tones of autumn arrive — when the vineyards come alive with winemakers busy with the harvest.

The Gran Monferrato Gravel Brevetti project is organised by the Consorzio Turistico Gran Monferrato in close partnership with FIAB Monferrato – Terre UNESCO — a collaboration now in its third year, dedicated to delivering routes that truly honour these UNESCO-recognised wine-landscape territories.
